Drag the slider: clean shaven to styled

The pencil moustache draws a narrow, precisely edged line hugging the upper lip, with everything above it shaved. Clark Gable and Errol Flynn made it the moustache of the silver screen, and it has carried a raffish, dressed-up air ever since. It grows in days but lives on maintenance: the line must be redrawn constantly, and any fuzz above it breaks the illusion. It is less facial hair than eyeliner for the mouth.

Who does it suit?

Suits fine, angular features and thinner lips it can frame. Heavy or round faces overpower so delicate a line.

How to maintain it

Edge above and below with a precision trimmer every day or two. The width stays under half a centimetre or the style dissolves.
