Mutton chops take sideburns to their logical extreme: they grow down and forward across the cheeks toward the corners of the mouth, while the chin and upper lip stay shaved. The style is nineteenth-century by birth and defiantly retro today. It widens the mid-face dramatically and takes weeks of committed growth to fill. Add a connected moustache and you have crossed into friendly mutton chops.
Who does it suit?
Best on long and narrow faces that can afford the width. Round faces get rounder, so they should look at length-adding styles instead.
How to maintain it
Shave chin and lip every two days, keep the chop borders deliberate, and brush the growth downward daily so it reads as chosen, not neglected.
